The grass that had been growing happily over winter, began it´s curtain call in spring and is now in senescence, with the end result of spikey, thorny, prickly grass seeds. They do this to propagate their genes to far-away places.
Unfortunately, a lot of them never make it past: dogs ears, noses, under the eyelids, in the feet and even into the lungs.
At the vet clinic this spring we have removed these grass seeds from all these places. We are lucky that we have, at our disposal, fibre optic, flexible endoscopes.
This means that we can look inside your dog´s airways to see if the grass seeds have passed that far. No other modality of diagnostics can do this... AND we can remove these grass seeds with forceps that pass down another channel of the endoscope, itself.
If you have a dog that has developed a cough over the last few weeks and it is not shifting, contact us and perhaps she needs a bronchoscopy to pull out a stray grass seed. It is fast and also, the only thing that will work…
